A Week in Jamaica: All inclusive
Jamaica is a Caribbean treasure, known for its breathtaking beaches, lush landscapes, and vibrant culture. It’s no wonder this island has become a favorite getaway for travelers seeking relaxation, adventure, and a taste of its rich heritage.
Jamaica’s history is a blend of Taino traditions, African roots, and European influences, all of which shape the island’s dynamic culture. Reggae music, famously brought to the world by Bob Marley, is more than just a genre here—it’s the heartbeat of the nation. Whether you’re strolling through a lively market or savoring a plate of jerk chicken, you’ll feel the rhythm of Jamaica in everything.
Staying at Holiday Inn Resort Montego Bay
For our week in Jamaica, the Holiday Inn Resort Montego Bay proved to be the perfect base. This all-inclusive resort offered stunning beachfront views, diverse dining options, and plenty of entertainment. The best part? Using IHG points made our stay even sweeter. The resort’s location made it easy to explore some of Jamaica’s most iconic attractions while also giving us plenty of downtime to relax. Using the free hotel stay aligned with our theme of travelling for less – some of the ideas we share can be used by anyone, with some planning in advance.
Food is a central part of Jamaican culture, and trying the local cuisine is a must. Jerk chicken is a crowd favorite, with its smoky, spicy flavors cooked to perfection over pimento wood. Ackee and saltfish, the national dish, offers a unique blend of savory and hearty flavors. Don’t miss out on freshly made patties, flaky pastries filled with spiced meat or vegetables. And, of course, a cup of Blue Mountain coffee is a perfect way to start the day.
When to Visit
The best time to experience Jamaica is between November and mid-December, when the weather is warm and pleasant, and the tourist crowds are just starting to pick up. If you’re planning to visit during the high season (January to April), prepare for perfect weather but larger crowds. For a more laid-back vibe, avoid hurricane season, which runs from June to November.
